Where Should I Send Them?
- David P., Subscriber
While social media is great, it is also superficial and doesn't create real relationships. In these weekly stories, I share stories you won't see anywhere else. You are also always welcome to respond if you want to talk further.
Anyone can listen to a finished song, but almost no one gets to see the creative process. Each week I send pictures and videos of my weekly writing process so we can experience it together.
Work, family, and wellness are all great things, but tending to them leaves little time for creativity. In each message I include a prompt to stimulate your creative intuition.
Weird right? It seems like every time you get on on someone's email list they immediately start spamming you with coupons, sales pitches, and course offerings. My emails are just an honest attempt to share my creative process, and I am not trying to sell any products or services.
I know your inbox is filled to the brim with bills, spam, and people asking something from you. I only send one email a week and the content is easy, quick, and inspirational. While you are always welcome to respond, there is never any pressure.
Your privacy is extremely important to me and I would never share your name or email address with anyone. I also include an unsubscribe button in every single email in case you ever decide you no longer wish to receive them.
"Right now my inbox has 21,822 unread emails. So I don't usually sign up for any sort of email list.
But I love getting Jake's short stories. They are inspiring, brief, and easy to read.
As a very creative person myself, I enjoy hearing Jake's perspective and listening to the song he is working on that week.
I've followed Jake on Instagram & Spotify for a while, but have enjoyed seeing more of his personal side here."
"Every morning my inbox is cluttered with spam and sales pitches. I delete all of these without even opening them.
I genuinely look forward to reading Jake's emails though.
He is such a genuine and interesting person and I like getting a glimpse into his life.
The stories are thought provoking, honest, and warm, and I like responding to the creative prompts.
Sometimes I even find myself wishing he had written a little more!"
"Normally, I don't give out my email because I don't want another newsletter to ignore.
Most of them are impersonal and full of sales pitches.
On the contrary, I've always found Jake's emails to worth my time. I'm interested in his view of life and watching him grow as an artist.
His musings about music, songwriting, and the process give the emails a personal touch.
It's great to hear his music and keep up with his work."
"Jake's songs have a way of engulfing you the way a great book or film does. His use of imagery and detail conjure up nostalgic images of sweetness mixed with tension in a subtle yet powerful way."
